King Arthur Baking Company at the Shops at Wildwood, located at 10207 Old Georgetown Rd has announced it will hold its grand opening on Saturday, August 2. This space, formerly home to Indigo Octopus until June 28th, will mark King Arthur Baking’s first location in Maryland. Indigo Octopus is relocating to Bethesda Row.
After a successful pop-up launch in Fairfax Corner last fall, King Arthur Baking Company is thrilled to extend its reach to more DMV shoppers. The Bethesda store will offer a wide array of baking essentials, including ingredients, mixes, tools, accessories, and kitchen appliances, and will remain open through the holidays. The company aims to open the store in early August.
Founded in 1790 in Boston, Massachusetts, by Henry Wood, King Arthur Baking Company has a rich history. Initially known as Henry Wood & Company, the firm focused on importing and distributing English-milled flour. Over the centuries, it evolved, introducing the “King Arthur Flour” brand in 1896 and rebranding to “King Arthur Baking Company” in 2020 to reflect a broader dedication to all things baking, beyond just flour.
