In a major move for a local talent, Montgomery County native Katie Feeney has been hired by ESPN as a Sports & Lifestyle Content Creator. Feeney, who has amassed a large following on social media (14 million +), will bring her unique perspective to some of the network’s top shows. Her new role was announced on Monday, August 4, 2025 by Adam Schefter.
Feeney’s roots are firmly planted in Montgomery County. She an Olney native who attended Sherwood High School. While there, she was not only a student leader, serving as the SGA treasurer, but also an athlete, participating in track and field and on the school’s dance team.
Her early career in professional sports also had a local connection, as she was hired by the Washington Commanders as their first-ever social media correspondent in 2022. Growing up in Maryland, she was a lifelong Washington fan, making this a fitting start to her career in sports media.
The recent Penn State graduate will now be a weekly contributor to prominent ESPN shows such as Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, and College GameDay. She will also serve as the daily lead for SportsCenter on Snapchat, which reaches millions of subscribers. Her content is described as a blend of on-site access, fashion, and culture, offering a fresh, Gen-Z-focused approach to sports media.
