The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Purple Line have shared updated August Purple Line access alerts:
Per the Purple Line: The temporary closure of the Wayne Ave and Fenton St intersection is extended to September 5, 2025. Crews are installing light rail tracks, reconstructing sidewalks, completing stormwater drainage, and utility crossings across the intersection, requiring a temporary full closure of the intersection to vehicular traffic. WMATA and Ride-On bus routes may be affected. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
The long-term closure of Arliss St between Piney Branch Rd and Garland Ave continues. This closure allows crews to install utilities and construct the Long Branch Station. A temporary driveway has been constructed to the Flower Branch Apartments, and a detour for vehicles and pedestrians is in place. The Long Branch Library will be accessed by turning north on Flower Avenue and east on Plymouth Street. Please follow the posted signage. Work may occur 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays and weekends, as needed through fall 2025.
On or about August 4, through October 6, 2025, Crews will implement a temporary full closure of the Ramsey Ave and Bonifant St intersection. This closure is required to install light rail tracks, reconstruct sidewalks, and complete utility crossings across the intersection. Access to the Kiss and Ride and taxi stands at the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center will remain open, with access from Ripley St. Pedestrian access to the transit center, the MARC platform, and local businesses will remain accessible.
