Fatal Collision Causes Significant Road Closure Saturday Evening

A severe traffic alert was issued this evening at 6:46 PM for Montgomery County, warning drivers of a significant road closure on MD-650 (New Hampshire Ave). All lanes are currently closed from MD-97 (Georgia Ave) to Sapling Ridge Ln in Brookeville due to a major traffic incident. The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is actively investigating the collision, which has been confirmed as fatal.

New Hampshire Ave remains closed as investigation efforts continue near the 22000 block, and officials are advising motorists to plan for substantial delays and seek alternate routes to avoid the affected area. Officials have reported that all drivers involved in the collision stayed at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation. Authorities are working diligently to clear the area as soon as possible, but motorists are encouraged to exercise patience and remain informed about the situation through local traffic updates.

Per MCPD: “The following is a brief summary of events regarding a fatal traffic collision that occurred near the 22000 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Brookeville. At approximately 6:17 p.m., on Saturday, August 9, 2025, 4th District officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male driver of a black Triumph motorcycle. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, an adult male, driving a silver 2013 BMW 128i, reported no injuries and was not transported.

The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this collision. A news release will be issued once additional information becomes available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.”
