Montgomery County resident Kyle Carmean has been appointed the new Head of News and Content for WTTG Fox 5 DC and WDCA Fox 5 Plus. Carmean will oversee all the editorial, business, and administration functions for the stations and their streaming offerings.
“Kyle has been instrumental in the stations’ success over the last decade. His innovative approach and creative vision will continue to lead our newsroom to future growth,” said Sue Diviney, senior vice president and general manager of the duopoly.
Carmean has been with the Fox Television Stations (FTS) for 20 years. He joined WTTG/WDCA in 2014 as assistant news director. Before that, Carmean spent 9 years as managing editor at WTXF Fox 29 Philadelphia. Prior to joining FTS, he was a nightside desk manager for WJZ-TV 13 in Baltimore, Maryland. Carmean began his career in broadcasting as Producer then Bureau Chief for WBOC-TV in Dover, Delaware.
“I’m ready for the opportunity to lead this skilled team of journalists and content creators as we continue our commitment to meeting the changing needs of our viewers in a multiplatform world,” said Carmean.
His enthusiasm for this opportunity is evident in a recent LinkedIn post where he shared his excitement: “I’m so excited about this new Opportunity at FOX 5 DC. This should be an exciting year of live streaming, @NFL Washington Commanders, and serving our great community! I couldn’t be here without my great mentors. Marilyn Buerkle who gave me my first internship and first job at WBOC after way too much Persistence! I Just wanted to thank all the great Leaders who helped me get here!“
