Claire’s is no longer running a store closing sale at its location at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. According to a store representative, staff were instructed to remove the signage over the weekend.
On Wednesday, the company announced that Ames Watson, a private holding company, will acquire Claire’s North American business operations as part of its ongoing Chapter 11 restructuring. The deal is valued at approximately $140 million, consisting of $104 million in cash, a $36 million seller note, and the assumption of certain liabilities.
Under the agreement, Claire’s has paused liquidation at a significant number of stores, including Bethesda, while continuing the process at other locations. The sale remains subject to court approval in the U.S. and Canada.
Claire’s also has Montgomery County locations at Clarksburg Premium Outlets, Gaithersburg, and Westfield Wheaton Mall.
