Edited to reflect that PlanetAid is no longer accepting donations.
The Planet Aid thrift store and donation center at 5520 Randolph Rd in Rockville is preparing to close its doors, with plans to relocate to a new, nearby space. While the exact closing date is not yet confirmed, the organization expects to cease operations at its current location sometime in September.
A representative from the Rockville location stated that the store is no longer accepting donations due to the moving process.
The decision to close is part of a planned move, with the organization actively searching for a new facility in the area. “We don’t have a specific location yet, but we’re looking for places nearby,” the representative said.
Planet Aid is a non-profit organization that collects and resells used clothing and other items to fund sustainable development projects around the world. The organization also operates a network of yellow donation bins throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
As the Rockville location prepares for its move, the community will be updated on the new address as soon as a location is secured.
