The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) has shared that more than 345,000 vehicles will cross the Bay Bridge between today and Labor Day.
Per MDTA: “Best time to cross today (Friday, August 29th) is before 10am or after 9pm. Saturday is before 9am or after 6pm.“ The westbound span may be closed Sunday from midnight to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closure.
The eastbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.
There are no scheduled lane closures between August 28 – September 1. The best times to travel across the Bay Bridge this Labor Day holiday period include:
- Thursday, August 28 – before 11 a.m. and after 9 p.m.
- Friday, August 29 – before 10 a.m. and after 9 p.m.
- Saturday, August 30 – before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
- Sunday, August 31 – before 11 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
- Labor Day Monday, September 1 – before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes and other work variables.
