The whimsical world of Ink & Riddle, a unique art supply, stationery, and game store with a “Hobbit’s book fair” aesthetic, is set to close its doors at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets after two years in business. The store, known for its cozy, nature-themed atmosphere, recently announced the closure on social media, inviting customers to a final sale.
Owned by Marie Criddle, a resident of the Agricultural Reserve in Boyds, Ink & Riddle was a passion project that brought her love for nature and art together. “I wanted to bring the beauty that I see in my backyard (the forests! The streams and lakes and wildlife!) to my business (art and games!),” Criddle shared. The shop reflected this vision, offering a curated selection of art supplies, books, games, and toys, with a special focus on local artists and their connection to the land.
Ink & Riddle was more than just a retail space; it was a community hub. The store showcased the work of local artists and even featured freeze-dried candy made by Criddle’s own children, adding a personal and homegrown touch to the business.
In a heartfelt social media post, the store shared its news with the community: “After two years, Ink+Riddle is closing up our brick and mortar shop at the outlets. Come enjoy 20% off everything in the store as we clear out and clear a path for new adventures! Thank you to everyone who has welcomed and supported us in the community!” As the store prepares for its final days, customers are encouraged to visit and take advantage of the 20% off everything sale and bid farewell to a local gem.
