Montgomery County Toddler Named Quarterfinalist in “Toddler of the Year” Competition

Three-year-old Gracelyn, a Montgomery County native from Clarksburg and proud “third-generation MoCo girl,” has advanced to the quarterfinals of the national “Toddler of the Year” competition. The contest, which celebrates children’s personalities and stories, also raises money for Toys for Tots, a nonprofit that delivers holiday gifts to children in need.

Voting in the competition is free and open to the public once per day, with optional donations benefiting Toys for Tots. With the help of family, friends, and the community, Gracelyn’s campaign has already helped raise nearly $1,000 for the charity.

Gracelyn’s parents, lifelong Montgomery County residents, say their daughter’s compassionate spirit is what makes her so special. “Gracie loves to dance and has an extreme nurturing mentality even at the young age of three,” they shared. She is also a devoted little sister to her older brother, Theodore, who was born prematurely and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The family actively advocates for children with disabilities, and Gracelyn plays an important role in supporting her brother. “She helps him out so much,” her parents said. “They’re an amazing pair.”

Gracelyn’s grandparents immigrated from South Korea to Rockville in the 1970s, and both of her parents grew up in the county, her mother in Rockville and her father in Germantown. Now, the family is proud to raise their children in Clarksburg.

The Toddler of the Year competition offers a platform for families like Gracelyn’s to share their stories while contributing to a meaningful cause. Each vote not only helps Gracelyn advance but also supports Toys for Tots’ mission to bring holiday cheer to children who need it most.

Community members can support Gracelyn’s campaign by voting daily and sharing her story. “This is about more than a title,” her family said. “It’s about coming together to raise awareness for children with disabilities and to support Toys for Tots so every child can feel joy during the holidays.”
