Montgomery County’s Josh Pitsenberger Scores Three Touchdowns in Back to Back Games For Yale

Bethesda native Josh Pitsenberger continued his red-hot start to the season on Saturday, rushing for 142 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries in Yale’s 41–24 victory. The sophomore running back has now scored six touchdowns in just two games, cementing himself as one of the Ivy League’s most dynamic offensive players.

Pitsenberger, a graduate of The Avalon School in Bethesda and former student at North Bethesda Middle School, has deep roots in Montgomery County. He emerged as a standout back locally before making the leap to Yale, where he immediately became a key contributor. Last season, he led the Bulldogs in rushing with 794 yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman.

This year, he has taken his game to another level. In Yale’s opener, he ran for 127 yards and three touchdowns in a 28–10 win, and his encore performance showed he could handle a heavy workload. His 28 carries kept the Bulldogs’ offense steady, and his nose for the end zone helped Yale pull away.

Teammates and coaches have praised Pitsenberger for his consistency and toughness, qualities that were evident throughout his high school career in Montgomery County. His back-to-back three-touchdown performances not only highlight his individual talent but also give Yale a reliable weapon as the team pushes into the heart of its schedule.

For Montgomery County football fans, watching one of their own excel at the Ivy League level is a point of pride. From Bethesda fields to national recognition, Josh Pitsenberger is quickly making a name for himself as one of the most exciting young players in college football.
