Police Issue Advisory About Suspicious Activity Involving Black Honda Civic

The Takoma Park Police Department has issued a community advisory following multiple reports of a man driving a black Honda and providing conflicting stories while soliciting money around the city.

According to police, the individual has approached residents with different accounts of needing cash. In one instance, he reportedly claimed his wife was about to give birth at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown and that she had his wallet, leaving him without funds for gasoline. In another report, he allegedly blocked a resident’s driveway, honked to get their attention, and stated his car had run out of gas there while urgently needing to get to the hospital, again requesting money.

While police noted that no criminal behavior has been confirmed, the conflicting accounts raised concern. Authorities are reminding residents to remain cautious, secure their property, and promptly report any suspicious encounters.

Community members who observe similar incidents are encouraged to call the Takoma Park Police Department’s non-emergency line at 301-270-1100. In the case of an emergency, residents should dial 911.
