One of Gaithersburg’s most beloved Halloween traditions is back… and it’s bigger, spookier, and more meaningful than ever. The Spooktacular Halloween display known as Spider Manor has returned to the Kentlands at 237 Little Quarry Road, welcoming visitors every day throughout October. It was established in 1996 (preview video below).
The family-friendly display features a mix of hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns, spooky skeletons, and giant spiders, with a few new DIY decorations added for 2025. Each night from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, the pumpkins and skeletons come to life, singing and dancing in a coordinated Halloween show that has become a local favorite.
This year marks the fifth year that Spider Manor has sponsored a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish, continuing its heartfelt tradition of giving back. Visitors are encouraged to “feed” the white Make-A-Wish pumpkin located by the mailbox or scan the QR code on-site to make an online donation. All proceeds are raised in memory of Alek Nelson, a Make-A-Wish recipient whose wish to visit Disney World brought joy and hope to his family.
“I’ve seen the power of Make-A-Wish and the profound difference it can make in the life of a sick child, like Alek,” said the display’s creator, who previously worked with Alek’s father, Dave, at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. “Now more than ever, the world needs the hope of a wish come true.”
Spider Manor is free and open to the public every day in October, offering a fun way to celebrate Halloween while supporting an important cause. Whether you’re a local resident or just looking for a festive outing, this Kentlands favorite is well worth a visit.
