Fall Back on Sunday: Extra Hour of Sleep, Earlier Sunsets Ahead

Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 am on Sunday, November 2nd, when we turn clocks back one hour and gain an extra hour of weekend sleep. The time change also means earlier sunsets and darker evening commutes across our area.

County officials have shared that safety on the roads is the top concern as daylight dwindles earlier in the day. Drivers should slow down, increase following distance, and switch headlights on during dawn and dusk. The evening rush hour will soon be in darkness, which makes cyclists and pedestrians harder to see. Crash totals typically rise around the time change, so please be extra cautious whether you are biking, walking, or driving.

Local officials also remind the public to set your clocks back, take a moment to test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms, and replace batteries or expired units as needed. Daylight Saving Time returns on March 8, 2026.
