A beloved Montgomery County holiday tradition is back, the Festival of Lights returns to the Washington D.C. Temple in Kensington (located at 9900 Stoneybrook Drive), once again transforming the temple and its surrounding grounds into a dazzling display of seasonal light and color.
Each year, more than 500,000 lights illuminate the temple grounds, creating one of the region’s most breathtaking holiday spectacles. The lights will shine nightly from 4:45pm to 9:00pm, offering visitors the opportunity to stroll the beautifully decorated pathways, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and take in the view of the illuminated temple from all angles. During December 4-24 there will be holiday performances in the Visitors’ Center auditorium at 6:30pm.
Hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Festival of Lights has become a hallmark of the season, attracting visitors from across the D.C. region. In addition to the outdoor light displays, the event traditionally features international nativity scenes, live musical performances, and family-friendly activities inside the Visitors’ Center.
