The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of a 16-year-old female from Silver Spring, Maryland, in connection with a violent carjacking that occurred in Northwest Washington, D.C. earlier this year.
According to MPD, the incident took place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 7:16am in the 1100 block of Rhode Island Avenue NW. Police say the victim had pulled over when the suspect entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle and attempted to flee. When the victim tried to stop the suspect, they were dragged several blocks by the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries before the suspect successfully fled the scene.
Following months of investigation, MPD announced that on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the suspect, a 16-year-old girl from Silver Spring, was arrested pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court Custody Order. She has been charged with:
- Carjacking
- Reckless Driving
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
- Receiving Stolen Property
- Leaving After Colliding
Due to the suspect’s age, her name has not been released by MPD.
