Maman Joon, a restaurant specializing in Persian cuisine, has officially opened its doors today, Saturday, November 22, at 15780 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg (photos below, courtesy of Maman Joon).
Located in the 270 Center (near the old Best Buy and next to Five Guys), the Gaithersburg location takes over the former Pieology space. The fast-casual concept brings a home-style approach to traditional Persian cooking, offering kabobs, rice dishes, stews, vegetarian options, and desserts made from family recipes and spices sourced directly from Iran.
The brand name translates to “Dear Mom,” reflecting the restaurant’s focus on warmth, comfort, and homestyle hospitality. Guests can expect a menu centered on freshly prepared kabobs,’chicken, beef, lamb, salmon, and vegetarian, along with sides like saffron rice and grilled vegetables.
The Gaithersburg opening marks the restaurant’s second MoCo location. Maman Joon debuted in the county in 2023 at 18100 Georgia Avenue in Olney, where it opened alongside its sister concept, Z-Burger. The company also plans to open an additional location at Westfield Montgomery Mall in the coming days, taking over the space previously occupied by Brio’s Chicken and, before that, Tara Thai.
