A Maryland State Police trooper was taken to the hospital on Sunday after their vehicle was struck on the southbound I-270 sky ramp to eastbound I-370.
According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, the trooper had been handling an earlier crash around 2 p.m. when the secondary collision occurred. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services and Maryland State Police units responded, several lanes were blocked, and this incident was one of multiple collisions reported in the area today.
We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
