A 19-year-old driver was arrested Monday after an erratic driving incident in Germantown escalated into a short police pursuit during which the vehicle struck multiple vehicles, including a police cruiser, and attempted to strike an officer on foot.
One officer sustained a minor injury and the driver is facing four counts of first-degree assault along with multiple traffic-related charges.
According to MCPD, “On Monday, December 29, 2025, at approximately 12 p.m., a 5th District officer observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Germantown Road and Crystal Rock Drive. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the 19-year-old male driver did not comply with the officer’s commands.
The vehicle struck a civilian car, an off-duty volunteer fire rescue vehicle, and a marked police cruiser. All three vehicles sustained minor damage. During the incident, the vehicle also attempted to back into an officer who was on foot.
The vehicle left the area and led officers on a short pursuit, which ended near the MARC Train Station on Bowman Mill Road. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
One officer sustained a minor injury while taking the suspect into custody. The officer was not transported. No bystanders or the suspect were injured during this incident.
The driver is being charged with four counts of first-degree assault, along with multiple traffic-related offenses.”
