Twin Valley Distillers, Montgomery County’s first distillery since Prohibition, may have closed its Rockville location, but much of what powered the operation will soon be available to the public through an auction.
According to the auction listing, the contents of Twin Valley Distillers are being sold as part of a complete liquidation. The auction includes distillery, bottling, labeling, and tasting room equipment from the former operation at 1029 E. Gude Drive in Rockville.
“Twin Valley Distillers, Montgomery County’s first distillery since prohibition, is moving in another direction and will make a complete liquidation of quality distillery, bottling, labeling, and tasting room equipment,” the auction website states.
As we reported last week, Twin Valley Distillers has permanently closed. The business was founded in 2013 by Edgardo Zuniga and marked a major milestone as the county’s first legal distillery since the end of Prohibition. The company emphasized a farm-to-bottle approach and built a loyal local following over more than a decade.
Twin Valley produced a wide range of spirits, including bourbons, Dirty Apples Whiskey, Fruit Punch Rum, Norbeck Agave Vodka, Zarcci Limoncello, and Black Joe Coffee Liqueur. The Rockville facility offered public tours and featured a cocktail bar highlighting its own spirits, while products were also sold at farmers markets across Maryland.
No details have been released about future plans for the Rockville site. Upon announcing the closure, owner Edgardo Zuniga thanked customers and the local community for supporting the distillery over the years.
