A 15-year-old girl was killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning on Lockwood Drive near Burnt Mills Ave, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Police said 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) personnel were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:19 a.m. for a reported collision involving two vehicles. Preliminary information indicates that a white Lexus GS350 was traveling on Lockwood Drive when it lost control for reasons still under investigation, struck another vehicle, and then collided with a utility pole.
A teenage female passenger in the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old female occupant of the Lexus was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The 18-year-old male driver of the Lexus sustained minor injuries and was not transported. A third female occupant of the Lexus also suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police said the driver of the second vehicle reported no injuries.
The department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. Police said a news release will be issued when additional information becomes available, including the identity of the victim, following proper notification of next of kin.
