The City of Rockville has declared a snow emergency ahead of a forecasted winter storm, with Rockville City Hall and all city facilities closed on Sunday, January 25, and Monday, January 26.
Under the declaration, all vehicles must be removed from roads within the city, including neighborhood streets, by 7 pm on Saturday, January 24. Residents can confirm whether an address is within city limits using the Address and Residency Check map at rockvillemd.gov/maps. The city is urging residents to park in garages or driveways whenever possible, follow posted parking rules, and use designated city owned parking lots during the emergency. Vehicles parked in violation may be ticketed or towed.
City crews will plow and treat roads based on priority, starting with major arterials, emergency routes, business districts, and roads near schools, followed by neighborhood streets and cul de sacs. Property owners are responsible for clearing snow from sidewalks and paved public areas within required timeframes depending on snowfall amounts. Residents are encouraged to clear snow around fire hydrants and storm drains when possible and to check on older neighbors or individuals with disabilities. Information about warming centers is available at montgomerycountymd.gov/OPI/alerts/hypothermia.html, volunteer snow shoveling for seniors can be found at bit.ly/rkvsnowvol, and ongoing updates will be posted at rockvillemd.gov, on Rockville 11, and on the City of Rockville Government social media accounts.
