K-Wave, a fast-growing K-Pop retail brand, is expanding to Maryland with a new location planned for Rockville. The upcoming store will open at 5534 Randolph Road in the Montrose Shopping Center, near MOM’s Organic Market and K-Pot, with an opening targeted for May 2026.
The Maryland expansion comes a little over a year after K-Wave opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 14260Q Centreville Square in Centreville, Virginia. Since launching, the shop has quickly built a strong following across the DMV, drawing fans from well beyond its original footprint.
The Rockville store will span nearly 3,000 square feet and is expected to significantly expand the K-Wave experience. Plans include a photoism booth, PC vending machines, K-Pop claw machines, DIY deco stations, in-store events, and an expanded selection of merchandise. Shoppers can also expect a wider range of K-beauty products, stationery items, exclusive K-Wave merchandise never sold before, and items created by local artists and fellow K-Pop fans.
K-Wave was founded by Austin, whose love for K-Pop began in 2013 after discovering Girls’ Generation’s iconic “I Got a Boy” music video. Like many international fans, he collected albums, attended KCON, and purchased merchandise online, all while working a traditional 9-to-5 job. Over time, the idea of opening a dedicated K-Pop store grew from a dream into a goal centered on making K-Pop more accessible to fans.
After a decade and a major life change, Austin moved to the DMV and turned that dream into reality. In December 2024, K-Wave officially opened, with a mission to share the joy of K-Pop, celebrate its culture, and foster an inclusive space for fans. The brand has also focused on hosting events that bring the K-Pop community together.
Since opening, K-Wave has been embraced by the DMV community and has seen its reach extend further than originally anticipated. The Rockville location marks the next chapter for the business, bringing the K-Wave experience to Maryland and continuing its growth in the region.
