Montgomery Parks Seeks Public Input on Restroom Access Through Countywide Survey

Montgomery Parks is seeking public input on restroom access and facilities across the county through a new online survey aimed at better understanding how park restrooms are used and what features matter most to visitors.

The countywide survey is open now through April 19, 2026, and will help planners assess usage patterns and access to restroom facilities in Montgomery Parks locations.

“Restroom access is something we hear is essential for park visitors, but we don’t always hear which specific features or types of access matter most,” said Henry Coppola, the department’s long-range planning supervisor. “Because restrooms can be complex to design and build, this survey is an important opportunity to hear directly from the community.”

The survey is part of a multi-year effort to improve the accessibility and overall quality of restroom facilities throughout Montgomery Parks. Over the past two years, staff have been collecting data on park restrooms, including physical infrastructure, operational status, and maintenance costs.

In addition to the survey, Montgomery Parks hosted two in-park engagement events last fall to gather feedback directly from park users. Officials say the combined input will help guide future planning and investment decisions related to restroom facilities across the park system.
