Plainclothes officers with the Montgomery County Police Department seized more than 300 suspected fentanyl pills during a traffic stop in downtown Silver Spring on Wednesday evening, February 4.
According to MCPD 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos, around 6:30 pm, officers assigned to the Special Assignment Team were conducting surveillance in the area to identify and disrupt criminal activity when they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction.
Officers stopped one of the individuals involved and conducted a search, locating more than 300 pills believed to contain fentanyl along with a quantity of U.S. currency. An adult male suspect was taken to central processing and charged with felony drug offenses. Police said the seizure may have prevented the distribution of a potentially lethal amount of narcotics.
