Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a vehicle fire involving a compressed natural gas trash truck on Monday afternoon in Derwood.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the initial dispatch was reported around 4 pm near the intersection of Muncaster Mill Road and Miller Falls Road. Fire crews arrived to find flames coming from the truck’s engine compartment and quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
Some lanes were blocked while emergency crews worked at the scene, and the Maryland State Highway Administration requested a sand truck to assist with roadway conditions. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
