A dense fog advisory is in effect across parts of central and northern Maryland, including Montgomery County, as well as portions of northern Virginia, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory remains in place until 11 am Tuesday, February 17, with visibility in some areas reduced to less than one quarter of a mile. Officials warn that low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous, especially during the morning commute.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. Residents who must travel during the advisory period are encouraged to allow additional time and use caution on roadways.
