Fish Taco Expands Space Ahead of Gaithersburg Opening

Fish Taco has expanded the space for its upcoming Gaithersburg location, pushing the front wall closer to the street as construction continues ahead of a planned opening this spring.

Signage for the popular local restaurant went up last year at The Shops of Potomac Valley, located at 12121 Darnestown Road. A representative for the family owned business previously confirmed the Gaithersburg restaurant is targeting a spring opening.

The space was originally slated to become a Wayback Burger that never opened and was most recently occupied by an AT&T store. The expanded footprint suggests a larger dining area and increased visibility from Darnestown Road as work progresses.

Once complete, the Gaithersburg restaurant will become Fish Taco’s fourth Montgomery County location, joining existing spots in North Bethesda, Downtown Bethesda, and Cabin John.

Fish Taco is known for its Baja inspired menu built around fresh, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients. The restaurant offers a wide selection of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and bowls featuring proteins such as fish, shrimp, chicken, steak, and vegetarian options. The menu also includes smaller plates like chips and dips, elote, ceviche, and tortilla soup, along with salads and shareable items for lighter meals.

According to the restaurant, Fish Taco aims to create a relaxed, community focused space where guests can enjoy flavorful food, connect with others, and spend quality time together.
