Dor-Ne Corset Shoppe Finds Buyer, Signaling Possible New Chapter for 93-Year-Old Silver Spring Store

Dor-Ne Corset Shoppe, the longtime specialty lingerie retailer in downtown Silver Spring, has announced that a buyer has been found for the business, potentially preserving the nearly century-old shop.

In a brief update shared on social media, the store wrote, “We’re excited to announce that we have found a buyer for the store! More details coming soon. We look forward to continuing to help you find your perfect fit!”

The announcement comes about three months after the shop revealed plans to close if a buyer could not be found. In December, Dor-Ne shared that its longtime owners were retiring after decades at the helm and had placed the business up for sale while launching a “going out of business, everything must go” sale.

Founded in 1932 as a bra shop in Washington, D.C., Dor-Ne built a reputation for expert fittings and high-quality undergarments at a time when personalized service was uncommon. The shop became known throughout the region for helping customers find hard-to-fit sizes and specialized foundation garments, earning a loyal following over the decades.

The store moved to downtown Silver Spring in 2001, continuing its tradition of individualized, hands-on fittings that distinguished it from big-box and online retailers. At the time of the retirement announcement, the owners said they hoped someone with the same passion and care would step in to carry on the business and the level of service customers had come to expect. It now appears that legacy will continue.
