Goodwill Preparing to Open First Germantown Retail Location

“Coming soon” and “now hiring” signage has been installed at Goodwill of Greater Washington’s upcoming Germantown location, where the interior buildout appears largely complete.

Goodwill shared earlier this year that the Germantown site is expected to open this spring. The organization noted that the new location will be its first retail store and donation center in Montgomery County’s northern region (north of Gaithersburg).

The upcoming Goodwill will be located within the new Waters Village Shopping Center, a redevelopment project at the intersection of Waters Road and Wisteria Drive in Germantown. Goodwill will serve as the primary tenant in one of the planned retail buildings at the site.

Coming Soon signage is now up for a new Goodwill location in Rockville. Back in December, we reported that Goodwill was set to take over the space most recently occupied by Planet Aid at the Montrose Shopping Center, the longtime shopping center anchored by MOM’s Organic Market. Goodwill’s move into the space expands its presence in the Rockville area. The nonprofit already operates another store just over a mile away on Boiling Brook Parkway, which a representative confirmed will remain open. While an official opening date has not been announced, the size of the Randolph Road storefront suggests it will likely function as both a retail store and donation center. No construction details or timeline have been released, but a 2026 opening appears very likely.
