Maryland Couple Wins $4 Million Mega Millions Prize

A Montgomery County couple from Silver Spring recently claimed a $4 million Mega Millions prize after replaying a set of numbers originally generated by a quick pick ticket that had not won the previous week.

The $5 ticket matched the first five numbers in the March 10 Mega Millions drawing but missed the Mega Ball, earning the second-tier prize. While that prize has a base value of $1 million, the ticket included a 4X multiplier, increasing the total winnings to $4 million.

According to MD Lottery, the couple, who chose to remain anonymous, said they regularly play Mega Millions and decided to use the same numbers again after the previous ticket did not win. They said they plan to use the prize money to purchase a new home. The winning ticket was purchased at the Giant grocery store located at 13490 New Hampshire Avenue in Colesville. The store will receive a $2,500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
