Stolen Vehicle Suspect Arrested After Crashing Into Two Cars

Montgomery County police say License Plate Reader technology helped officers locate a stolen vehicle and arrest a suspect Wednesday afternoon in the Hillandale area of Silver Spring.

According to MCPD 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos, members of the Community Action Team received an LPR alert for a stolen vehicle traveling south on New Hampshire Avenue near Chalmers Road. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, police say the driver rammed two community members’ vehicles before becoming stuck in traffic. Officers then broke out a window and quickly took the adult male suspect into custody without further incident.

Investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen and that the license plate displayed on it had also been stolen from a different vehicle. The suspect was transported to Central Processing and booked. Police said LPR technology has played an important role in helping officers locate felony vehicles and apprehend dangerous suspects.
