Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police 5th District Investigative Section are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday night inside a Germantown grocery store.
At approximately 8:45 pm on March 20, 2026, 5th District officers responded to the Giant Food store in the 18300 block of Leaman Farm Road for the report of a shooting. Officers located an adult male inside the store suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation, two male suspects entered the store and began chasing the victim through the aisles. As the victim ran toward the front of the store near the checkout lanes, one of the suspects fired multiple shots, striking the victim twice. Police said the store was filled with shoppers and employees at the time of the shooting, prompting customers to run and take cover. Detectives are working to identify the suspects and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
