Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews are currently on the scene of a working garage fire with extension into a home in the 13000 block of Darnestown Road in Darnestown.
Initial reports indicate that all occupants are out of the house. Firefighters are conducting a full set of primary searches to confirm no one remains inside. Per MCFRS, crews are working aggressively to knock down the fire in the garage while preventing further spread into the living areas. Operations also include ventilating the home to remove smoke and protecting nearby structures. A sustained water supply has been established as firefighters continue making progress on the scene.
Montgomery County Police have been requested to shut down Darnestown Road in the immediate area. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and allow first responders the space needed to operate safely. MCFRS reminds residents that if you encounter smoke or emergency vehicles, slow down, remain alert, and never drive over fire hoses.
