Dentist Charged After Patient Reports Sexual Assault During Procedures

The Montgomery County Department of Police Special Victims Investigations Division has charged a Silver Spring dentist with multiple sex offenses involving patients and say additional victims may exist.

Police say the investigation began March 2, 2026, when an adult female reported that her dentist, Dr. Ermais Semaie, sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions during procedures when no hygienist was present. Detectives said they were able to corroborate the victim’s allegations.

Investigators also identified a prior complaint from 2018, when another victim reported Semaie to the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. His license was temporarily suspended and he was placed on probation, though no criminal charges were filed at that time. Based on the previous report and current allegations, detectives believe there may be additional victims. Semaie was arrested March 19, 2026, and charged with multiple counts of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault before being released on bond.

Police are urging anyone who believes they may have been a victim or has information to contact detectives at 240-773-5050.
