Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded around 12:30am to the Potomac River near Ten Foot Island by Riley’s Loc for a water rescue after a boat struck a tree.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, three individuals were thrown into the river and were found holding onto a tree, with at least one reported injured. Swift water rescue teams from MCFRS, Fairfax County, and Loudoun County responded to the scene.
All three victims were located and rescued, then transported by boat to the Algonkian Boat Ramp in Virginia for EMS evaluation and transport by Loudoun County Fire and Rescue. The extent of injuries has not been fully detailed.
