Permanent Signage Up at Guapo’s GO

Permanent signage is now in place at the future Guapo’s GO in Gaithersburg, marking another visible step toward opening. The fast-casual concept is now targeting a debut by the end of spring, a slight shift from its earlier April goal. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.

The new location is coming to 12211 Darnestown Road, taking over the former California Tortilla space. In recent months, preparations have steadily progressed, including early hiring efforts and licensing steps as the restaurant moves through final approvals.

Guapo’s GO is part of the broader Guapo’s restaurant group and is operated by the same family behind the full-service locations. The concept focuses on a streamlined, fast-casual experience centered around rotisserie charcoal chicken, tacos, burritos, and a selection of Latin American sides made fresh daily.

For some longtime residents, the concept may feel familiar. A previous Guapo’s fast-casual location operated at 411 North Frederick Road starting in 2010 before closing in 2017. That space was later occupied by Ixtapalapa Taqueria.

With signage now installed and final preparations underway, the Gaithersburg location appears to be entering its last phase before opening. More details, including an official opening date, are expected soon.
