Shock Trauma Honors Team That Saved Montgomery County Teen Shot at Party

The University of Maryland Medical Center’s R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore honored 51 medical professionals and first responders who helped save the life of a Montgomery County teenager who was critically injured in a 2024 shooting.

The recognition took place during the annual “One Maryland One Shock Trauma” event, which highlights the coordinated efforts of Maryland’s trauma care system.

The teen, now an 18-year-old student at Northwest High School, suffered severe injuries and multiple organ failure after being shot at a party in August 2024. He required extensive medical treatment, including numerous surgeries, large volumes of blood transfusions, and advanced life-support care before being stabilized. He later underwent months of rehabilitation before returning home.

Officials said the case underscores the importance of rapid emergency response and collaboration among first responders, medical teams, and rehabilitation providers. Proceeds from the event will support upgrades to trauma care facilities and equipment to enhance future lifesaving efforts.
