A Gaithersburg woman is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win after purchasing a scratch-off ticket in Derwood.
According to MD Lottery, the woman, who works as a cook and describes herself as a scratch-off enthusiast, bought the $10 ticket at Redmill Beer & Wine, located at 7248 Muncaster Mill Road, after leaving work one day. After scratching the ticket, she discovered she had matched a winning number tied to the $50,000 prize and quickly shared the news with her family.
Lottery officials say the Rose Gold scratch-off launched in April, and this marks the first $50,000 prize claimed on the game. The Gaithersburg resident said she plans to use the winnings to purchase a new car.
