The Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) is investigating an assault that left a juvenile male seriously injured Thursday afternoon near Wootton Parkway and Rockshire Place in Rockville.
According to RCPD, officers responded at approximately 11:52am for the report of an assault in progress and located the victim suffering from serious head injuries. According to witnesses, a group of approximately 20 juveniles on mopeds attacked the victim with a blunt object before fleeing the area. Investigators said the victim has been unable to confirm what happened and is currently uncooperative with detectives.
Authorities said there is no evidence at this time indicating the incident involved Thomas S. Wootton High School or any students from the school. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Rockville City Police at 240-314-8938. Witnesses may remain anonymous.
