A new proposal could bring a Bruster’s Real Ice Cream location to Rockville as part of revised plans for 900 Rockville Pike.
According to a report by Maryland Newsletters, J. Danshes LLC is seeking to amend its development plans for the site at the southeast corner of Rockville Pike and Edmonston Drive. Instead of constructing a single building, the updated proposal calls for two smaller buildings, each measuring 1,404 square feet. Plans show a Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in one building, with the second reserved for general retail use.
The site has undergone multiple revisions in recent years. Initial approval called for a 6,862 SF building, which was later reduced to a 4,400 SF single structure under a plan approved in 2025. The latest application would further scale down the project while splitting it into two separate buildings.
If approved, the Rockville location would mark an expansion for Bruster’s in Montgomery County. The chain currently operates just one location in the county, in Gaithersburg at 18519 N Frederick Avenue. Opened in 2006, that shop is locally owned and has remained a popular destination for frozen treats, even earning the company’s national “Operator of the Year” award in 2011.
Additional details on the proposal, including a timeline for potential construction, have not yet been announced.
