Carmen’s Italian Ice has announced that its new Cabin John Village location in Potomac is expected to open in early June.
The new shop will be located at 11325 Seven Locks Road, Suite 113, next to Colony Grill and near Moby Dick. The Potomac location will become Carmen’s fourth full-service shop, joining existing locations in Rockville, Kensington, and the Kentlands in Gaithersburg, along with several smaller select-service sites across the DMV.
Known for its Italian ice, frozen custard, gelati, shakes, and other frozen treats, Carmen’s recently received national attention after being featured in Bon Appétit magazine’s “The Best Things We Ate in April.” Menu offerings at the new Potomac location are expected to include classic Italian ice flavors such as lemon, mango, blue cotton candy, and strawberry-lemon, along with frozen custard, gelati combinations, floats, and dairy-free and gluten-free options.
The Potomac shop will be co-owned by Jerry Walters, Brad Riddle, and operations partner Ajay Jalloh in collaboration with founders Jason and Boodie Mandler. Carmen’s Italian Ice was originally founded in Rockville in 2001 by Jason Mandler, who aimed to bring the tradition of South Jersey and Philadelphia-style Italian ice to the Washington region.
The new location will also continue Carmen’s annual traditions, including “Jayden Day” on the 8th of every month, featuring 50% off Italian ice and gelati, and National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day celebrations each February.
