Montgomery County Native Darrell Britt-Gibson Stars in New Season of HBO’s ‘Euphoria’

Silver Spring native and Blake High School graduate Darrell Britt-Gibson has joined the cast of HBO’s hit series Euphoria in a major role for the show’s third season.

Britt-Gibson, who was born and raised in Silver Spring and graduated from James Hubert Blake High School in 2003, portrays Bishop, the quiet but intimidating right-hand man and enforcer for Alamo Brown, a powerful strip club owner and drug kingpin played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

According to details released about the new season, Bishop is tasked with keeping a close and suspicious eye on Rue, played by Zendaya, after she becomes entangled in Alamo Brown’s criminal world while attempting to escape a massive debt owed to Laurie.

While Euphoria marks Britt-Gibson’s latest high-profile television role, the Montgomery County native has built an impressive résumé over the past two decades with memorable performances across several acclaimed series.

Many television fans may recognize him from Power, where he portrayed Rolla, a young drug dealer who worked alongside Tommy Egan and James “Ghost” St. Patrick. The character was mentored by Ghost before ultimately being killed after being falsely framed for arranging an attempt on Ghost’s life.

Britt-Gibson also appeared as Jemell Rayam in HBO’s We Own This City, Darius “O-Dog” Hill in the critically acclaimed series The Wire, and Jermaine in HBO’s Barry. In addition to his dramatic television work, he earned praise from horror fans for his performance as Martin in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy, where he became one of the franchise’s most popular characters.

Euphoria has an additional Montgomery County connection, as Paula Marshall who was born and raised in Rockville and is a graduate of the now-closed Robert E. Peary High School, played the role of Marsha Jacobs. The mother of character Nate Jacobs.
