Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police have arrested a Texas man in connection with an alleged credit card fraud and theft investigation that led police to a CVS store in Kensington.
According to police, 24-year-old Elijah Gonzalez of Houston, Texas, is accused of using a victim’s credit card to make unauthorized purchases at Costco on May 12. Investigators determined the merchandise had been shipped to a CVS store on University Boulevard West, where employees reported that Gonzalez had previously come looking for the packages.
Police said Gonzalez returned to the CVS on May 19, demanded the packages, and allegedly threatened employees, prompting staff to call police. Responding officers arrested Gonzalez and discovered he was carrying a false government identification document. He was charged with theft between $1,500 and $25,000, possession of a false government identification document, and related offenses. Gonzalez was released on recognizance on May 20.
