Fire Extinguished In Mixed Commercial And Residential Building In Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to a reported fire around 8pm Tuesday at a mixed commercial and residential building on Chestnut Street in Gaithersburg.

According to MCFRS, upon arrival, firefighters located a fire inside an office room and quickly advanced hose lines to attack the flames. Crews were able to knock down and extinguish the fire before it spread further throughout the building.

Following the initial fire attack, firefighters conducted searches and overhaul operations to check for any hidden fire extension and ensure the scene was safe. No injuries were reported.

MCFRS shared a reminder to residents and business owners that early detection and prompt reporting of fires play a critical role in limiting property damage and protecting lives. Officials encourage everyone to ensure smoke alarms are functioning properly, keep exit routes clear, and maintain a fire escape plan in case of emergencies.
