Montgomery County Announces July 3 And July 4 Fireworks Celebrations

Montgomery County is inviting residents to celebrate Independence Day with two free community events featuring live music, food vendors, family-friendly activities and fireworks displays.

The celebrations will take place on July 3 in Kensington and July 4 in Germantown, with fireworks scheduled to begin at approximately 9:15pm at both locations. The separate City of Gaithersburg SummerFest celebration takes place on June 27th.

“Independence Day is a chance to spend time with family, friends and neighbors and to reflect on what it means to be part of a community,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “I hope residents and visitors alike join us in Kensington on July 3 or in Germantown on July 4, to enjoy a summer evening and celebrate the ideals that continue to shape our country.”

The first event, Montgomery County 250th: Shine Together, will be held on Friday, July 3, at Albert Einstein High School, located at 11135 Newport Mill Road in Kensington. The event will serve as part of the County’s ongoing 250th anniversary celebration and will begin at 7pm with a performance by The Nighthawks.

Parking at Albert Einstein High School will be limited to individuals with disabilities. Free parking and shuttle service will be available beginning at 6:30pm from Westfield Wheaton, located at 11160 Veirs Mill Road. County officials noted that vehicles parked at the mall before that time may be subject to towing by the property owner.

The second event, Germantown Glory, will take place on Saturday, July 4, at South Germantown Recreational Park, located at 18041 Central Park Circle in Boyds. The celebration will begin at 7pm with a performance by TFC Band. On-site parking will be available.

Food vendors will be available at both events. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and coolers. Alcoholic beverages and pets will not be permitted. “These events are designed to bring our community together in a safe, welcoming environment where people of all ages can make lasting summer memories with family, friends and neighbors,” said Montgomery County Recreation Director Gabe Albornoz. “The events are free to the public, offering an affordable way for families to celebrate together.”

County officials noted that fireworks times may change depending on weather conditions.
