The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is reporting a fiber-optic cable interruption that is affecting live monitoring of approximately 450 traffic signals in the southern half of Montgomery County.
Officials said the traffic signals continue to operate on their normal schedules and no public impacts are currently expected.
Because the outage limits MCDOT’s ability to receive automatic notifications of signal problems, residents are asked to report any traffic signal outages by calling the Montgomery County Police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000, especially with thunderstorms possible this evening. MCDOT expects the fiber-optic interruption could last for several days.
