Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision in Gaithersburg

Updated at 5:56am: Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred early Wednesday morning in Gaithersburg.

Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel were dispatched at approximately 4:47 a.m. to the area of Muddy Branch Road and West Diamond Avenue for a reported pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, crews located an adult male pedestrian suffering from critical injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim later died from his injuries.

Investigators say the striking vehicle fled the scene. The preliminary description of the suspect vehicle is an older-model Honda CR-V, possibly dark gray in color, with red accents and front-end damage to the left side. The vehicle was last seen traveling on Muddy Branch Road toward West Diamond Avenue.

Police are asking anyone with information about the collision or the whereabouts of the vehicle to contact Montgomery County Police. The investigation remains ongoing.
