Man Charged With Rape; Detectives Believe Additional Victims May Exist

Montgomery County Police have arrested 58-year-old Melesse Semegne of Silver Spring and charged him in connection with a sexual assault investigation. Detectives with the Special Victims Investigations Division believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

According to police, officers responded to a Silver Spring residence on May 6, 2026, after an adult woman reported that she had been sexually assaulted the previous day. The victim told investigators she had gone to Fenote Training Academy, located at 8115 Fenton Street, where she was enrolled in a course. She alleged that Semegne was the only person inside the business at the time and sexually assaulted her. The victim later left the location and contacted police.

On May 14, detectives executed a search warrant at the Fenton Street business and recovered items of evidentiary value. Semegne turned himself in on June 14 and is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He is charged with second-degree rape, attempted second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree assault, and a fourth-degree sex offense. Detectives are asking anyone who may have had contact with Semegne to contact the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
