Fodor’s “#1 Ice Cream in the Country” is Coming to Montgomery County

Always Ice Cream Company is bringing its award-winning frozen treats to Pike & Rose in North Bethesda, with plans to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2026. The new shop will be located at 11802 Rockville Pike, next to Chipotle and Visionworks, in the space formerly occupied by PetWellClinic.

Known for its small-batch ice cream, Always Ice Cream features more than 200 rotating flavors along with soft serve, handcrafted sundaes, old-fashioned milkshakes, root beer floats, ice cream cakes, vegan and dairy-free options, and seasonal specialty creations.

“Opening our newest location is a dream come true. As our ninth Maryland shop, we are thrilled to join the vibrant Pike & Rose neighborhood,” said co-owner Adam Cohen. “With many of our family members living in the surrounding communities, this opening feels especially meaningful, and we look forward to becoming a part of this incredible community,” added co-owner Mark Cohen.

Pike & Rose officials say the addition further strengthens the development’s growing lineup of dining and retail destinations. “Always Ice Cream is an exciting addition to Pike & Rose, offering a unique experience that complements the neighborhood’s already vibrant atmosphere,” said Vanessa Mendoza, Vice President, Federal. “We look forward to Always Ice Cream opening its doors later this year, offering the community yet another must-visit destination Pike & Rose has come to be known for.”

The ice cream shop will join a growing collection of businesses at Pike & Rose, including Call Your Mother, Commonwealth Indian, Kusshi Sushi, Sports & Social, Summer House Santa Monica, Roaming Rooster, Sunday Morning Bakehouse, Bouboulina, JOOLA, Falafel, Inc., and Caruso’s.

Always Ice Cream has earned numerous accolades over the years, including being named the No. 1 ice cream shop in the country by Fodor’s Travel. The company has also received multiple “Best Ice Cream” and “Best Dessert” awards from publications including What’s Up Magazine, the Capital Gazette, the Baltimore Sun, and Severna Park Voice.

The Pike & Rose location will mark the company’s ninth Maryland shop when it opens later this year.
